Data availability for China before 1984

Q: I have a question related to China’s trade data. I cannot get data for China’s trade with other countries (for total trade in SITC1 classification) prior to 1984. Do you see any reason for that?

A: Our UN Comtrade database does not have data before 1984 for reporter China.  You may wish to contact the China Statistical Office for any information before 1984 as we only carry data from this year onwards.
